Groundwater Simulation Modeling

The Suwannee River Water Management District (SRWMD) uses groundwater flow simulation modeling to understand our region's complex relationships between surface water and groundwater, and project the potential impacts of proposed changes in water use.

A groundwater flow model has been developed for SRWMD covering the north-Florida and south-Georgia area. This model is based on the MODFLOW-NWT modular, three-dimensional, finite-difference, groundwater flow model developed by the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS; Niswonger, and others, 2011). The MODFLOW-NWT software may be obtained by downloading it from the USGS.
