Little River Springs Restoration Project
Background
The Little River Springs Restoration Project is a strategic partnership between Suwannee County and the District. Little River Springs is a popular tourist attraction and directly connects to the Suwannee River.

Project Benefits
  • Improve water quality in Little River Springs through the replacement of a failing material wall along the bank of the spring. 
  • Reduce sediment loads washing into the spring.
  • Improve spring access and safety.

Budget
The total project cost for the project is $104,590. $90,000 comes from the Water Management Lands Trust Fund and Suwannee County is contributing $14,590.

Milestones
  • Agreement Executed: July 10, 2014
  • Survey and Engineering: Complete
  • Permit Phase: Submit to Florida Department of Environmental Protection and U.S. Army Corp of Engineers June 2015
  • Construction Phase Start: August 2015
  • Completion: November 2015
