Charles Springs Restoration

The Charles Springs Restoration Project is a strategic partnership between Suwannee County and the District to restore the bank around the spring. Charles Springs is a popular tourist attraction and directly connects to the Suwannee River.

Project Benefits
  • Improve water quality in Charles Springs through the replacement of a failing seawall along the bank of the spring. 
  • Reduce sediment loads washing into the spring.
  • Improve spring access and safety.

The total project cost for the project is $112,380. $105,000 comes from the Water Management Lands Trust Fund and Suwannee County is contributing $7,380.

  • Agreement Executed: July 10, 2014
  • Survey and Engineering: Complete
  • Permit Phase: Submit permit applications to SRWMD and U.S. Army Corp of Engineers June 2015
  • Construction Phase Begins: August 2015
  • Completion: December, 2016
