Group of Hunters

Over 105,000 acres of District lands are available for deer, hog, turkey, and small game hunting. The majority of these lands are part of the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission's (FWC) Wildlife Management Area (WMA) or Wildlife Environmental (WEA) programs.

For more information about WMA/WEAs, contact the Florida Fish & Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) at 386.758.0525 to request the annual WMA/WEA brochures or stop by your local tax collector's office to pick up a copy.

November 7, 2016 - CAUTION: Due to extreme drought conditions please use caution during all outdoor activities.  Sparks from vehicles, cigarettes, equipment and vehicle exhaust systems parked on grass can start a wildfire.  REPORT ALL FIRES TO 9-1-1.

November 1, 2016 –  Goose Pasture Campground and Goose Pasture Group Camp will close on November 5, 2016 during hunting season.  They will reopen on January 23, 2017.  For information contact Edwin McCook 386-647-3106 or recreation@srwmd.org.

January 21, 2016 - Road 55-4 in the Steinhatchee Springs tract located on the west side of SR 51 has been closed to vehicles due to extreme wet conditions.
