Rising Water Levels Expected

Water levels will be rising on the Withlacoochee, Alapaha and middle Suwannee rivers in the next few days. Substantial rainfall in Georgia in the past two weeks is now affecting rivers in northern tributaries of the Suwannee River and this is expected to affect some Florida river locations during the coming week.

At Three River Estates on the Santa Fe River the Southeast River Forecast Center flood forecast calls for a rise of approximately three feet by the weekend to just below the "minor flood" level. This is not unusual at that location in the spring, when rising water on the Suwannee creates backwater at the confluence of the Santa Fe River.
