The Suwannee River Water Management District (District) welcomes Larry Thompson, of Bell, to the Governing Board. On Dec. 18, Governor Ron DeSantis announced the appointment of Thompson.

“Thank you, Governor DeSantis for your continued support and appointment of Mr. Thompson to the District’s Governing Board to represent the Lower Suwannee River Basin,” said Hugh Thomas, executive director of the District. “The leadership provided by our board members helps to carry on the District’s mission of protecting and preserving our water resources.”

Thompson is the Vice President and Owner of Nature’s Source Products and the President and Owner of Straw America. Previously, he was President and Owner of Custom Pine Straw. Thompson has volunteered his time with the Suwannee County Housing Authority and CareerSource Florida Crown.

This appointment is subject to confirmation by the Florida Senate.

The mission of the Suwannee River Water Management District is to protect and manage water resources using science-based solutions to support natural systems and the needs of the public. The District holds true to the belief of water for nature, water for people. Headquartered in Live Oak, Florida, the District serves 15 surrounding north-central Florida counties.
