The DISTRICT is dedicated to providing individuals with limited English proficiency (LEP) the necessary services to empower them with an equal opportunity to participate in and benefit from DISTRICT programs, activities, and services. This is a rare occurrence at the DISTRICT. As such, LEP persons are assisted individually on a case-by-case basis. When dealing with an LEP person, staff will identify the language spoken using I-Speak posters or available electronic and/or web resources. Through readily available electronic and web resources, staff will communicate that the DISTRICT will be back in contact with the LEP person as soon as they secure interpretive services either internally or externally.

The major language spoken by LEP individuals likely to be served in our service area is Spanish (Latin American); this language is most frequently encountered at reception, documenting grievance, public meetings, and filling out paperwork. The District maintains Bilingual staff that speak Latin American Spanish to provide oral language services to assist at these points of contact.
